Smartphone and Computer Backups

Data is an incredibly important aspect of smartphones and computers. From photos taken from your iPhone to passwords saved on your computer, most data is incredibly important to protect. When you reinstall the software for apps, your computer’s software, and more, your data is at risk of becoming lost in the process.

Backup Your Data on a Regular Basis

So, what does backup mean? It means to copy over files to a protected system outside of your devices whether that be via cloud or external drive.

Cloud v. External Drive

Cloud backups are backups that happen automatically. The user doesn’t have to make new folders within the cloud to backup the info. Cloud backups typically back up new/changed data on your computer to the cloud. This functions differently than a Cloud Syncing system e.g. OneDrive, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, etc. These programs allow users to work from a folder across devices.

External drives are exactly that: External Hard Drives, e.g. flash-drive, external drive, etc. External drives are a great option to have because it is a copy of your information offsite, untouched by the device until you insert it in the USB.
